Using color theory in your session should NOT be underestimated. I recently took a course that delves into the elements of art within photography (by Forest and Field Photography for Unraveled Academy)- I am always interested in learning and growing in this area as I look at what I do as creating art for my clients.
Do you ever look at an image and wonder what it is that really makes you love it? What makes it visually captivating? What makes it evoke a feeling when you view it?
The color wheel is an interesting thing to learn about. This session used complimentary colors (yellow and blue) and tertiary colors (colors next to each other on the color wheel). Using color to tell a story is another element that can add meaning and depth to your session.
I loved how this mom styled her family and we worked together incorporating the clothing items and the location to really make the images pop and be striking to the eye. You see color repetition in both vibes (blue sky, blue dresses and the burgundy/deep pink sky with their second look). When I assist in styling my clients my goal is for them to embrace their personal style along with combining it with my knowledge of what elements will enhance them and their images- color is one of the most impactful in my opinion.
